DMD2 T865 Tablet

Did my research, joined the forums and am in the process of installing the unit as I write this review. First trip coming up next week, up to Colorado with a few friends and looking forward to giving it a try. So far, the set up and diddling that I have done, the user interface is so fluid! The hardware seems to be super robust, time will tell.
The service from ADV-TIM was nothing short of spectacular; ordered the unit and within a couple of days in had it in hand.

Unbelievable

Tim has been amazing with supplying me a T865. After a useless delivery service he arranged to meet me in person and hand me the package. Thank you Tim for all your efforts. Demon Rides…

A new level of confidence

I've been surviving using just my Samsung phone as my nav unit but I always find myself having to come to complete stops when navigating trails as I cannot see well when standing and the screen is always too small. I mounted my T865 on my aftermarket rally tower, above the main display, and now I can see very clearly while working my way through trails or touring roadways. Having the high-level of water-resistance is important to me as I'm no stranger to pinning the pig through water with only hope to get me through. The programmable buttons on the top of the display allow me to quickly 1.disable touch input, 2.open DMD2, 3.open OnX Off-Road.

Being that the tablet is Android-based I was able to download Torque Pro and throw a mount in my truck to use the display to monitor trans temps, oil temps, etc while towing my big trailer and will be sticking a mount inside my UTV to leave the pack around in that. Pretty versatile tablet and I am glad it is easy to move from vehicle to vehicle.

V3.1 hard-mounted on the motorcycle and the provided mount on a RAM ball to swap between truck and UTV.

Tablet

Fast shipping appears to be well built, heavy, compared to a regular tablet. Just starting to set it up and learn how to use it. So far it has been easy to figure it out and get started. Garmin has always been hard to figure out and use, so I'm looking forward to using the tablet with the same OSMAND app that I use on my phone.

The future of motorcycle navigation!

Love the flexibility of the Android platform. I often run 3 nav apps (DMD, Gaia GPS and Rever) at the same time with no issues. Apart from the Rever app being terrible and not supporting landscape mode. The tablet is rugged and feels well built. Wish the screen was a bit brighter but I'm sure sourcing a brighter screen at this size is tough. The mount is very secure but the lock is a bit tricky to get to depending on your wind screen. If you're frustrated with Garmin's ancient user experience, give this device a try! If you're even slightly technical and take the time to learn the system and dial it in, you will begin to wonder how you ever rode without it. If you're concerned with support from an overseas company, rest assured Tim will take care of you!
